Fried Green Tomatoes

This is a great way to use up green tomatoes towards the end of growing season.

4 large tomatoes
2 eggs; whisked
1/2 C milk
1/2 C flour
1/2 C cornmeal
1/2 C bread crumbs
1 tsp salt or salt substitute
1/8 to 1/4 tsp pepper

Slice tomatoes, dredge in flour, dredge in egg and then bread crumbs (I like to repeat this process a couple of times for a thicker crust).  Brown battered tomatoes in oil, on both sides, until lightly browned.  Best if served warm.  Enjoy!
